Fostering Religious Diversity & Inclusion in India

Fostering Religious Diversity & Inclusion in India

Long regarded as a taboo topic in the workplace in India, Community Business (CB) has conducted pioneering research to make the case for why religious diversity should be included as part of a company’s overall diversity and inclusion agenda. I was asked to design the report’s cover and layout.

Design Review
The cover featured five images and icons of the five mentioned religious affiliations in the research. To increase inclusivity, three extra icons were added to represent ‘Atheist’ and ‘Other Religions’.

CB’s sub-brand colour for India was dark tangerine (FAA61A), however, it could cause readability issues. Also yellow and orange colours are usually associated with Hindus in India. To avoid favouritism on one religion, the India team and I decided russet brown (84451E) would be a more neutral and appropriate theme colour. A 2:1 layout was created to use visualised data and explanations to accompany the main content. I used icons, font hierarchy, content frames and templates throughout the document to impart complex information and maintain readability. To emphasise certain pages, an individual page style was created to make them stand out from the main layout. It also allowed readers to capture and repurpose them conveniently. CB, as well as other businesses, often use content from these research for training and presentation. The visualisation of key findings with graphics and tables, allowed readers to easily understand and utilise the research.
